 René W. Brown, PhD, is an ecologist, with 30 years of experience protecting land and water resources and managing and restoring ecosystems. She works as an environmental consultant and serves on the boards of several environmental organizations. 

René writes short stories, essays, and novels infused with science, nature, and travel, and is exploring middle grade adventure and fantasy writing.  She is also working with her lifelong friend on a dark humor series.
